At the moment, there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the impacts of COVID-19 on our dance circuit and the upcoming season. We understand our responsibility to provide clarity regarding this season but unfortunately, it’s impossible for us to predict with full confidence. We continue to stay up to date with mandates being put out by local and state governments, as well as rules and regulations set by universities for the 2020-2021 academic year. Given everything we know, we do have a few updates at this time.
- Bollywood America will not be officially affiliated with any in person events taking place in Fall 2020. We do not encourage the risk that would be involved for organizers, teams, and audiences in order to make these events a success.
- At this time, we are hoping to have a Spring show - we do have a venue booked and are actively working on plans for a shortened season. We will be revisiting the likelihood of putting these plans in action in October.
- We will be modifying our board application process. Our board applications will release on Sunday, August 16th. We will be filling roles based on current needs first and will reopen the application in October for roles that are more aligned with our flagship event. More information regarding applications will be available soon. We encourage everyone to always prioritize their health and safety. Do not break rules set in place for your well-being.
Lastly, keep safely dancing, organizing, and creating - we’re exploring ways to innovate and bring virtual opportunities to life! As always, we welcome any feedback and/or suggestions through email at general@bollywoodamerica.org.
Thank you for your continued understanding, patience, and contributions during these unprecedented times!

To our community,
Bollywood America is continuing to actively monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects that it has had across the nation. It has been brought to our attention that several precautions are being taken by universities and businesses that could lead to a few more hurdles along the road. We also understand that there is a possibility that the fall semester could be conducted remotely at many colleges, which would impact teams’ and competitions’ timelines.
We are in the process of speaking to all of our '19-'20 Signature Competitions about potential contingency plans that would go into effect to alleviate any issues caused by the above. We intend to partner with other organizations to come up with appropriate plans and regulations for our circuit to ensure our community’s safety. Furthermore, we will work with teams and competitions to ensure they are prepared for any changes that the effects of the pandemic may bring to the competition season.
Please note: we are currently hopeful that our season will be able to take place as planned; however, it is important for us to spread awareness and plan ahead in the event that any situations arise. We will be updating our website and iOS app with the latest information regarding the COVID-19 effects on the 2020-2021 competition season.
Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe!

To our community,
Bollywood America has been monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic extensively for the past few weeks and it is with great sadness that we have to announce that Bollywood America 2020 has been cancelled.
As this situation continued to escalate, we remained extremely hopeful that our event could still take place as long as we took the proper precautions and safety measures for everyone involved. We have explored multiple avenues but unfortunately, it has become clear that there is no way to move forward with an event of this magnitude without putting the lives of thousands of people at risk.
Dance is an incredible thing that has brought us all together, however, amidst University shut downs, bans on large gatherings and travel restrictions, it has become nearly impossible for us to give teams the experience that they deserve. As a community, we must always prioritize well-being over dance.
We are truly sorry that we are unable to provide teams with a championship stage this year and hope that everyone can understand that this was an extremely difficult decision to make.
We want to take a second to thank every team in this circuit for the passion and dedication that they continue to display year after year. We do this for you and our hearts are broken.
We also want to thank all competition organizers in not only the fusion circuit, but our sister circuits as well. Thank you all for working to raise the bar for participants and inspiring us to be the best that we can be time and time again. Along with competition organizers, we also wanted to thank all of our Bollywood America 2020 liaisons, exhibition teams, media partners, djs, and judges for their involvement thus far. We are so grateful to have been able to work with such a talented group of individuals.
Lastly, we want to take a second to thank this entire community for giving us so much love and support over the past eleven years. We cannot wait to show you all what we have planned – this is just a detour and we hope to see you all back on the #roadtoBA next season.
