About - Bollywood America

Bollywood America is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing a platform for South Asian culture to thrive in America. Every year, the executive board oversees a system that results in the nation’s top teams facing off for the ultimate title. Additionally, our board works on many initiatives and projects that help foster a more inclusive environment.

Bollywood America, our flagship event, is the largest and longest running fusion championship in the world, attracting thousands of audience members and showcasing some of the best talent in the country. Our overarching mission for Bollywood America is to push talent to its limits and spread interest in entertainment and South Asian culture through Bollywood dance around the world.

Annually, our show revolutionizes the dance circuit and is remembered as the competition where the caliber of dance and creativity are exceptionally high. For everyone involved, Bollywood America is more than just a competition; Bollywood America is an inspirational journey and unforgettable experience.

As organizers and members of our community, we at Bollywood America are aware of the mental, physical, and emotional impact that sexual misconduct can have.

Sexual misconduct is any unwelcome advance, request, gesture, or any other behavior of a sexual nature that might reasonably be expected or be perceived to cause offense or humiliation to another. Such conduct can take the form of a single incident and is likely to interfere with an individual's well-being, and/or create an intimidating or hostile environment. Sexual misconduct may occur between persons of the opposite or same sex and both males and females are equally at risk for being victims or offenders.

These incidents cause extreme trauma and irreparable damage to the victims, resulting in negative impact to their personal and professional lives. In light of the global efforts bringing awareness to many of these cases, we are reminded of the power of solidarity in confronting the exploitation of any individual.

The Bollywood America Board is dedicated to fostering a safe environment that all members of the dance community can experience and contribute to without fear of being victimized.

To provide more clarity:

- While we are working towards creating a strict and consistently implemented system to handle all escalated sexual misconduct cases within the dance community, we will not tolerate sexual harassment or assault of any form at Bollywood America and all Signature Competitions. Each incident will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

- We are committed to putting the safety of our dance community members first. In order to make the competition weekends safer for all members, we as a Board are collaborating with our Signature Competition boards to ensure we are well prepared to address any such incidents. Our Board, Liaisons, and Volunteers will undergo training to identify, resolve, and mitigate these situations.

- We will actively support any member of the dance community who comes forward with any experience, information, or allegation.

We wholeheartedly strive towards becoming a community that is aware of and sensitive towards the issues related to sexual misconduct, and to ensure that every member of our dance community can feel safe and protected.
